Artificial Intelligence Based Modeling of Musical Instruments
In this paper, a novel research tool, which allows real-time implementation and evaluation of sound synthesis of musical instrument, is described. The tool is a PC-based application and allows the user to evaluate the effects of parameter changes on the sound quality in an intuitive manner. Tuning makes use of a Genetic Algorithm (GA) technique. Flute and plucked string modeling examples are us...
متن کاملDiscrete-time Modeling and Synthesis of Musical Instruments
Physics-based modeling of sound sources, particularly of musical instruments, can be carried out in many forms. In this paper an overview is presented focusing on methods that are potential in real-time simulation and synthesis, in contrast to solving equations that characterize the behavior of the sound source under study. Modeling paradigms discussed here cover the digital waveguides (DWGs), ...
متن کاملNeural Networks for Modeling Time Series of Musical Instruments
We demonstrate the use of neural networks to model the attractors of musical instruments from time series. We show how the neural networks have to be extended to be able to model instationary behavior. To give an impression of the use of the models we summarize some results of analyzing the instrument dynamics and we show that the neural models are stable in the sense that they allow resynthesi...
متن کاملEmotions of Musical Instruments
This paper describes a research regarding emotions of musical instruments. The goal is to find out whether it is possible to alter a communicated emotion to a listener by using various musical instruments. These instruments are the piano, marimba, alt sax and cello. After performing an experiment clear differences are visible, especially on the emotions joy and sadness.
